  Stamps to honour all 29 British gold medalists at the London 2012 Olympics were made and on sale within 24 hours of their victory, as well as each winner having a postbox painted gold in their home town, and it proved so popular that they have decided to extend it to Paralympians as well - although the number of medals likely to be won means stamps will not be on sale quite as quickly.

Charlotte Dujardin Previously Fractured Skull In Fall While Riding

  Olympic dressage team and individual gold medalist, Charlotte Dujardin, has stated that she wears a helmet while riding due to previously fractured her skull in a fall from a horse. Dujardin became a global role model for safety after she donned a helmet to compete in the London 2012 Olympics. Dujardin’s team mates, Carl Hester and Laura Bechtolsheimer, elected to wear the “traditional” top hat rather than a helmet.

Another Olympic LEGEND - Stroller

  Another Olympic LEGEND - Stroller is the only pony to have competed in the Olympics. Stroller was a 14.2 HH Connemara Pony, Thoroughbred cross. Not only did this diminutive equine athlete compete, but with his owner/rider Marion Mould brought home a individual show jumping silver medal from the 1968 Olympic games in Mexico. He jumped one of the only two clear rounds in the final competition.
